Last week I shared with you the reasons why I think albums are important. In keeping with this theme of printing and enjoying your images, today, I thought I’d talk about deep matte prints. This is my favorite way to display photographs outside of an album.
What are deep matte prints?
Deep matte paper is a non-reflective, or lusterless, paper known for showcasing bright whites and for providing an elegant color range. It has a smooth texture and is soft to the touch.
Why do I love deep matte prints?
Deep matte prints display light images, skin tones and black and white images beautifully. Images also appear extremely crisp on deep matte paper, moreso than on other types of paper. Tact sharp photos are a must for me and having a paper that accentuates this quality is great!
If you’re interested in having images printed on deep matte paper, I would encourage you to check with your photographer to see if they can order them for you. Your photographer will most likely have calibrated their monitor to their printing lab to produce the best results. While you can print your photos elsewhere, there may be slight or even great changes in the color and brightness of your photos from what was intended.
