I believe that birthdays should last for a month, and that small achievements should be praised in a big way! So it’s only natural that I think a couple should be celebrated even after the wedding day is over. And Jennifer of Blushing Blooms Floral Design and Katherine of Katherine Rae Bridal Beauty share the same sentiment, which is why we’re partnering to bring you a complete anniversary portrait experience!

This experience includes a beautifully crafted bouquet, professional hair and make up and photographs at a location that holds meaning to you. Whether you’ve been married a year, or 50 years, your love is worth preserving as it grows through the seasons of life, and we think this is the perfect way to honor that love.

If you’re interested in one of these sessions, please email Jill at jill@jillchristinedesigns.com. We’d love to hear from you!

I was honored to photograph Jonathon’s senior portraits. Jonathon comes from a beautiful, kind and loving family. And just a couple of months ago, I photographed his sister’s wedding. We revisited their family farm to take these pictures and I fell even more in love with the gorgeous backdrops the farm had to offer, as well as the history of the farm that Jonathon shared in between shots. Fortunately for me, their farm — Smith Creek Farm — is now an official wedding venue and one of my 2016 brides will get married there! But for now, here are a few of my favorites of this handsome senior.

This past week, the world lost a beautiful, loving woman with an enthusiasm for life and a passion for motherhood. Lindsey was an example of kindness, patience and courage. And in her last days, she showed us how to live and die with grace. Those that knew her were better because of her friendship.

While I know that she is in a better place, it’s heartbreaking for those still here — for her husband, for her three small children, and for her family and friends. Lindsey placed great importance on her friendships and it’s these friendships that we can draw on for strength as we grieve.

A few weeks ago, several of these friends supported her through a photography fundraiser that benefited her family. I debated whether to post these at all, but Lindsey loved her friends and loved children, and I believe she’d want to see these smiling faces from heaven. Thank you to everyone that mirrored Lindsey’s generosity and participated in the event!

The basic timeline of events goes something like this: Gemma books a family session. Matt then follows up secretly to tell me he’d like to propose to Gemma and wants to know if I’d mind documenting the moment. Of course not!

Fast forward to the day of the photo session and the weather really wasn’t in our favor — steady, cold rain throughout the day. Had this been a typical family session, I would’ve suggested we reschedule.  Fortunately for everyone, Gemma didn’t call off the shoot, and as for the rest, you can see how the events unfolded below.

We started with a few family pictures.

Then we moved into a few of Gemma and Matt by themselves. These next two shots are just before Matt takes a knee to propose.

I’d say Gemma was surprised! I love her reaction!

In case there was any question, she said yes! And from there we moved into a mini engagement session. Family portraits, a proposal and an engagement session — if nothing else, I’d say these two are efficient!
