What a beautiful bride and groom, and such a fun wedding! Can’t wait to share more next week!
When Trinity and Nick mentioned wanting to have engagement photos taken in their hometown of Hoboken, New Jersey, I knew we had to make it happen. Aside from the beautiful buildings lining the river, a train station with an abundance of character and back alleyways with gorgeous light, this place is where they began their lives together and that alone is worth documenting!
I had so many favorites from their session that I decided to break this up into two parts. Check back later this week for the second post, which will include some pictures of the NYC skyline!
Just for fun, I thought I’d start a new blog series where I share a few of my favorite things, in hopes that you’ll share a few of yours as well, and we might all find some great new things along the way!
First up … coconut oil. I only recently began using coconut oil, but so far I love it! I’ve been keeping two jars on hand, one in the kitchen and a separate one in the bathroom. So if you come to visit, there’s no need to worry that my face moisturizer is also being used as an ingredient in my granola!
Starting with the kitchen, studies have shown cooking/baking with coconut oil helps our bodies resist viruses and bacteria, helps to increase metabolism (who doesn’t love that?), and reduces cholesterol (making it a great substitute for butter in baking), among other benefits.
Moving to the bathroom, I’ve found coconut oil to be a great moisturizer for both skin and hair. You can use just a dab of the oil on dry hair to smooth ends and frizz. Or, apply it as a conditioner, letting it set for 30 minutes to an hour before washing your hair. It also makes a great shaving cream or after shave lotion.
I’ve been using Nutiva Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, which I found on Amazon and also at my local Giant. Share a product that you’ve been loving lately to be entered to win your very own jar of coconut oil!
I wrote about why I think Welcome Home sessions for babies are important in a previous blog post that I’ve recopied here.
In the moment, the first days when you bring your newborn home from the hospital may seem like an eternity with countless diaper changes and middle of the night feedings. But these moments are actually fleeting and I believe they should be preserved so that you’re able to share them with your children later in life. So that they may see the love and the warmth present at their beginning. That they may see the mobile that hung above their crib and the way their daddy’s hands looked as he rocked them to sleep. These photographs are the ones they will cherish because you are present in them.
Meet sweet baby Colin at just a few weeks old! He’s a lucky guy to be surrounded by so many people that love and adore him!
